The whole series should be postponed - indefinitely. All police have to be in uniform first. Can you imagine this character in a uniform other than possibly dinner lady. (I don't think I would want her dishing up my dinner)

In real life she would just not gel in the UK force. Maybe in LA where they could possibly accept a female Columbo.

Funny how perspectives differ. It is YOUR comment that makes ME ashamed, Jules. Suggesting that the people who've expressed a perfectly reasonable opinion (very generally, that dramatic television shows ALWAYS reflect someone's reality) are somehow being 'disrespectful' or petty because they disagree with the programming decision is an absolutely untenable insult. While I cannot begin to gauge your motives, to me it smacks of nationalistic browbeating... An attempt to 'shame' people in silence. That is never a good thing. It is a direct personal insult to all who expressed that opinion. The reasoning behind the insult is specious, at best.

It strikes me that those who are quickest to trot out the 'They died fighting for their country' line (or it's twin: 'they died fighting for your freedoms') are most often those who are quickest to attempt to dictate the behavior of others. In America, when someone says 'They are fighting for your freedoms', it is nearly always followed by an egregious attempt to limit/rescind some aspect of that freedom. Perhaps not the case with you - I can't know, and I wouldn't want to speculate - but it does ring certain alarm bells with me personally. It's an incredibly damaging dynamic/tactic in a free society, and we all need to push back against it.

Not interested in a flame war, but I thought that as the webmaster allowed you the opportunity to make your assertion, I should hope for the same and respond.

I think postponing the episode was a knee jerk reaction. It is tragic that two servicemen were killed but we have been in a war situation for some years and this is to a certain extent predictable. I think if ITV want to be seen as sensitive then the episode should not have been commissioned. All dramas contain issues difficult or sensitive to someone so what happens now...non stop Cash in the Attic?,,,
